LEGAL
Terms
Last updated [1 October 2026]
These terms govern commissioned work. They are deliberately short, and the quote you sign always wins where the two disagree.
01
Who you are contracting with
Nora Steinmann, [street and number], [postcode] Zürich, Switzerland, [VAT or UID number]. Referred to below as the studio.
02
Quotes and booking
A quote holds for [30 days]. A date is held once the quote is signed and a deposit of [50%] has cleared. Until both happen the date stays open to other clients.
03
Fees and payment
Invoices fall due [30 days] from issue. Expenses agreed in the quote are billed at cost. Late payment carries interest at [5%] per year from the due date.
04
Cancellation and postponement
Cancel more than [14 days] before the shoot and the deposit is returned less costs already committed. Inside [14 days] the deposit is retained. A date may be moved once at no charge, subject to availability.
05
Shoot days
A day is [8 hours] on location, breaks included. Beyond that, time is billed at [rate] per hour. Travel beyond [50 km] from Zürich is billed separately.
06
Delivery
A first edit lands within [10 working days] of the shoot, and the final selection within [4 weeks], delivered as [high-resolution JPEG and TIFF] through [delivery platform]. Raw files are not part of the delivery.
07
Revisions
The fee covers [2 rounds] of retouching on the selected frames. Further rounds, or changes to the selection after it has been approved, are billed at [rate] per hour.
08
Copyright
Under the Swiss Copyright Act the studio is and remains the author of the photographs. Copyright is not transferred by payment; what you receive is the licence described below.
09
The licence you receive
Unless the quote says otherwise: [worldwide], for [3 years] from delivery, in [the media listed in the quote], non-exclusive and non-transferable. Sub-licensing to a parent company, agency or retailer needs written agreement.
10
Credit
Where the medium customarily carries one, images are credited [Photo: Nora Steinmann]. Editorial use always carries a credit. Omitting an agreed credit is a breach of licence.
11
Use beyond the licence
Extending the term, the territory or the media is agreed and priced before the use begins. Use outside the licence is an infringement, not an invoice waiting to happen.
12
Liability, force majeure and law
The studio carries [professional indemnity insurance] and its liability is limited to the fee paid for the commission, except where the law does not allow that limit. Neither side is liable for failure caused by events outside its control. Swiss law applies and the courts of [Zürich] have jurisdiction.
This page is a structure, not legal advice. Every value in brackets is a placeholder: replace it, delete what does not apply to you, and have a lawyer in your jurisdiction read the result before you publish.
