In her words
I studied architecture for five years and never built anything. What stayed with me was the drawing: the hour a building is meant to be seen, the one the architect had in mind. I started photographing to find that hour, and I never stopped.
I work in daylight. Not out of principle, but because a borrowed light makes every room look like the same room. Waiting costs a morning; it is the cheapest thing in a budget and the only one that shows.
I shoot on medium format and 4×5, which means fewer frames and slower days. Clients who want a hundred pictures should not call me. The ones who come back want eight, and want them right.
Approach
Three steps,
one frame at a time.
Every commission follows the same order: scout the site, shoot in daylight, print the edit.
Notes
Fewer frames, better ones.
Every building has an hour it was drawn for. The work is finding it — waiting for the sun to clear a roof, for a street to empty, for the one frame that says what the architect meant.
